Has anyone ever ordered from MGM for a contender or Encore barrel? If so, what was the timeline on the build? I ordered 12/23/20, had my CC charged on the 25th, and so far nothing. Left a message yesterday early in the day (no one answered) and haven?t heard back yet.

Thanks in advance.

Got a drawer full of them. Good barrels, good folks. Takes an average of about 90 days to get one after ordering.

Done 20+ over the years. Quality has varied from really good to oh well it goes bang.

The early Schillen blank barrels I had were by far the best. Most shot 1/2" at 100 or better. The Green Mtn units I had fouled really bad and were not as good as a factory barrel in my opinion. They are doing their own blanks now and I have seen mixed reviews. I started to order a Contender 44 Mag carbine barrel the other day and it was more than a complete Henry Rifle for the barrel so I just purchased a complete gun.
At one point they were a bit more inclined to make deals and work with cut off shorts. This made for some good bundles and good prices. Think that train has left the station.
If you order one let me know how it does.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Thanks for the responses. I ordered it in hopes of getting a couple months worth of shooting before heading out west for a competition this June, so the 90 days should work.

I just picked up a 9mm for a contender on a trade (I don?t have a Contender, but it covered the trade difference) but I?ve never shot one. I?m anxious to see what they are capable of.

Thanks again - PythonHunter

I had a 460 S&W made by them. Best barrel I ever had on that Pro Hunter. I didn't have many, but it was by far the best. Well worth the wait.

RECENTLY ACQUIRED A 9 INCH BLUE ENCORE MGM BARREL IN 357 MAG WITH A 4 SCREW MOUNT. HAVEN'T USED IT YET BUT I SURE LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS AND IS MADE. FOR THE LOADS FOR THIS BARREL I PLAN TO USE REM 7 1/2 PRIMERS, WHICH I HAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND OF (IIRC) AND NOT HAVE TO USE ANY OF MY SP PRIMERS.

I have 2 MGM's.

13" 44MAG and 10" 357MAG

Both are extremely accurate and both came within the timeframe given by MGM.

I've had several barrels done by them now. In my experience, MGM tends to deliver the barrels towards the longer end of the timeframe they estimate. The more features you want on your barrel, like fluting, muzzlebrakes, and cerakote do seem to drag out the delivery date, understandably so.

24? Encore Rifle Barrel in .358 Winchester
12? EncorePistol Barrel in .358 Winchester
12? Contender Pistol Barrel in .357 Mag
14? Contender Pistol Barrel .35 Remington
9? Encore Pistol Barrel in .500 S&W
14? Encore Pistol Barrel in .460 S&W
15? Encore Pistol Barrel in .30-06 Spr
27? Encore Rifle Barrel in 6.5-06 A-Square

All took about 6 weeks to make. And I?ve been exceptionally pleased with how they were willing to build exactly the dimensions, contour, base and Forend screw spacing, etc. that I wanted. Accuracy has been better than factory by far!

My son Brad ordered a 375 win from them about three weeks ago. When his arrives I will be able to tell you to the day how long it took for his.

Worth the wait. My .260 barrel shoots .25" or less.
