Well I finally did it, I joined HHI! Don't ask why it took so long, 'cause I don't know.

And after an uneventful fall, I am planning to call predators after the 1st. I'd love to get a wolf or a mountain lion to come in. I plan to use my .357 and keep shots close since it's iron sighted. I'm also thinking about investing in an electronic caller (to use where/when legal).

Do any of you hunt predators up close?
If so any thoughts on electronic calls?
Any other thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum DarkTimber!

as to your question, I try to get out once or twice a year (typically scoped contender or similar to shoot) and use an electronic call. I would say get a nice one. I got an Icotec GC320 (likely Gen1, see they have gen 2 now) and found that the buttons in the remote would stick like crazy causing the remote battery to go dead super fast. I still have it, but pull the remote battery between uses (pain in the butt). During use, I would have to pull the buttons up/out as they would stick.

Thanks karl. I appreciate the advice on the Icotec and the button issue.

I hear you on the scoped contender, something with a little more range would be fun. Finding a contender on the other hand, is another matter! LOL

I call coyotes and coons, got a FoxPro Inferno and it comes with I believe 75 sounds but you can out up to 200 on it. When I got mine I believe they were around $200, I would also recommend adding an external and a motion decoy. This would be a good setup right here https://www.ebay.com/itm/394370488533?hash=item5bd25018d5:g:R94AAOSwlgdjkoWW&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsC4TDbdGkg6uMYNTvXA%2FQKvTLJjybLxZHGNGudj1jvF2ThMRcKujFKBo6mUmgBjAET%2Fvl2UMSRGLqrZXAxr7KtR%2BXgWYEh15clxzCRRBJKvLcDXYKodYsJv3xXSG1yubWarb8wyMghUSig6h%2FOWNi3d83OhsjaCoDLdMdb%2BySnC9ChhMt3P8jWlfVp5vSA4zdW5ErNJDj4r%2FreDEOS2I6YwEwC69dsQWdwER7hOXM67r%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR7KHz_KiYQ and a decoy https://www.ebay.com/itm/285073652051?epid=11004181231&hash=item425fb6b953:g:d~QAAOSwloBjl3Cm&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoIpj9gq%2FXDtf98s40TsnLkFUK3Ba5ZWKSb%2FGiLBGUqgpCE7uC0TvVQO0f4rJHI27Pj8D6SUYvb8VPSuxvbXc%2FIWT6vrSwE5EZyQNj6qPcD09PEEHRdr4r9s8wcPfaptKmuyp4NESrriWiyWLcsTGvFfiQSm8pB18phVNVSmkdB1iAR5r86X0JAUTqMTL8VZHaSQQV6YhuhdJwYYgC8v7VEw%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-DVmvOiYQ Usually use my Ruger 327 Federal or my 9MM Tangfogli longslide.
