Just wonder if anyone else watchs NASCAR. The season starts today with the running of the Daytona 500. I just started really watching it last year. I picked Jimmy Johnson to win, not even knowing that he was already the Champ. He then went on to win. Of course I have to root for the old guy Mark Martin as well. I think it will be Dale JR. this year even though I'm rooting for Jimmy. Anyone else have a favorite or prediction?

Don't get me wrong I would go shooting or hunting before I would watch a car race. I was on a pit crew once upon a time at the local track it was alot of fun. Plus I raced motocross for years so racing is in my blood just like gunsmoke.

What's NASCAR?? Do they drive a few laps and jump out and shoot a few targets then drive to the next target?? LOL<LOL \:\)

Sorry I'm not really into any sports, just shooting and hunting.

Tig, I thought it was were they shot while they were driving by the target 007 style.

Well that wasn't all that exciting. None of my picks won. Well as they say, next time. ;\)

I like to watch NASCAR. I'd say I'm a Jr fan.

The last 40 laps were pretty exciting. I was pulling for either Stewart or Jr. They didn't do too bad. I think Stewart made the wrong call when he lost the lead, he should have stayed high instead of going low opening the door for the boys in blue.

Yes I think your right. I saw those blue cars coming around him when he dropped down and I figured it was all over, and it was.

I'm glad Jr. made a top ten finish (9th) his first race with a new team. Look where his team mates were. Not to good for the 2 fastest guys in NASCAR, but it wasn't thier fault either. I didn't see J. Gordon go out, but I saw Johnson crashout.

I too thought it was a really good race, just not the outcome I would have liked to see. I too am a JR. fan, but then again I guess I like a lot of the Chevy drivers for that matter. It is also hard not to pull for someone like Mark Martin either.

The only saving grace was the guy that finished 2nd didn't finish 1st.

Hee, hee, heeeeee. That guy must have some fans out there somewhere but I have yet to come across one. I used to be a diehard NASCAR fan but it is getting so homogenized that my interest has lagged. I enjoy the 1/4 milers more these days, better personalities/characters, and the 5 second sprint over the 4 hour marathon. NHRA :-)

Rod, too.

Here's another NHRA fan although I have not been following it lately. Pro-Stock is my favorite. I took a friend who has been to some Nascar races to the NHRA Mile High Nationals last year. We were in the front row halfway down the track. He could not believe the power (and noise) of the top fuel dragsters and funny cars.

Yup, I watch and attend. Have season tix to the first two Chase races in NH and Dover so I'm there each year and I try to attend a new track each yr if possible. have been to Bristol and Pocono besdies the other also. I had tix/accomodations for daytona this year but let 'em go in lieu of using that money for a few firearms purchases. I can go to any there any year but I want these guns this year.

Don't blame you. Man has to draw the line somewhere. You can watch the race on TV, but you can shoot the gun over and over.

I'm not hooked on it but I do enjoy watching sometimes. When I was in college my roommate was on a pit crew so I got to go to Dover and get in the pits one race. His brother now works for Hendrick in the engine shop. That was very cool to be in the garage. I'll post some pics one of these days. They are all slides and I'll have to get them scanned. Mark Martin got robbed last year when they didn't throw the caution on the last lap if you ask me.

You are right Gary, I feel the same way. I would enjoy seeing your pictures. I worked on a pit crew at the local track we used to have here. It was a great time.

It's getting to be that the NASCAR "pregame" is better than the Superbowl half time- all the oldies at Daytona and then ZZ Top this week - the races weren't anything to get up for but the shows were great!
