We've got a bunch of new members so I'm bringing back this popular thread.

I'll start it off. I'm Gary and run things around these parts. Sometimes this is my 2nd full-time job - during the day I write software on occasion and run some eCommerce programs for a big box retailer. I've been hunting with handguns since 1981, exclusively since 1984. I live in Virginia but would like to spend more time in Texas.

If you're so inclined feel free to introduce yourself to the gang.

My name is Ernie. I have been handgun hunting since the mid-to-late 80's. Primarily, I use specialty handguns over revolvers, but have hunted with them as well. I am a preacher by vocation in the wonderful state of Wyoming. I enjoy shooting and hunting with specialty pistols. The other aspect of SP's is that I like to stretch the distance and will compete in a couple of LR shoots each year.

Hello, my mane is Duane. I have been hunting with a pistol sense 1996. I grew up shooting Contenders and then Encores. I am originally from the state of Texas but I will hunt were ever the good Lord permits. I am sailor in the US Navy and I currently stationed with the Navy Band in New Orleans.

Hello, my name is David but I go by Rupe. I started handgun hunting in the late 90's. I was out of it for about 8 years but now I'm back into it again. I'm retired/disabled due to a back injury and I'm healing from back surgery at this time. My other hobbies are 4wheeling our Jeep Wrangler and camping.

My name is Jeremy, I am a recovering whitetail junky! I am new to the handgun business. Since I have stumbled onto the site, I now have a great desire to make it my priority. Oh yeah, awesome site! I live in Gloucester, VA. I build furniture and do trimwork. I have a great respect for the outdoors as it should be! I am a very accomplished hunter and the long arms has gotten somwhat boring for me. Bow and Blackpowder are my favorite, and most likely the handgun will be next!

My name is Phil. I am an officer with the Colorado Dept of Corrections. I grew up hunting, fishing and trapping in Montana and hope to return soon. I enjoy the solitude and challenge of backpack hunting wilderness areas in Colorado. Other than handguns, I also shoot and hunt with traditional muzzleloaders and traditional archery gear.

i'm Kyle, n i originated "Roll Call Round 1"

i've hunted deer and small game by ALL methods since i was a youngin. i'm nearing 45 now.

i bought my first "deer gun" as a ruger redhawk in 1986. i used it off and on for a few years, and took my first handgun deer with it several years later(less deer population back then). i use handguns exclusively now. i love the TC's, "need an XP, and a good ruger revolver ain't bad to have around. i also love shootin, reloadin, and fishin.
....but 3 youngins sure do take a lot out of a man.

I'm Rod. I'm a big bore revolver fan but in the past have used contenders and plan to do so again. I hunted exclusively with traditional archery equipment after putting down my rifle almost 25yrs ago and then I started hunting with modern archery equipment and rifles again and I got serious about handguns about 5yrs ago.

I'm Tom. I have been hunting with handguns 95% of the time since 1995. I've been lucky enough to have gone hunting in Africa 3 times and had a blast. I mostly shoot Encores and my custom Reeder built 510 GNR revolver.

My name is Rod. Man how time flies, hard to believe its going on 5 years hanging around this site. I make interior trim parts for an income, you can see at http://www.s4sindustries.com Can you tell where my 'handle' comes from ;-) I hunted with long guns for most of my life, until about 10 years ago. I love the challenge and convenience of the handgun. I have an assortment of tools/platforms; revolver, s-auto, 'Tender, XP, Striker, Competitor; and call no real favorites, they all have their place although the wheelguns have been prominant of late. Anyway, good hunting and shooting and let's stick together.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

My name is Steve. I am a manufacturers rep for a publicly traded firm catering to the asphalt industry and coach high school and American Legion baseball. I live in Alabama and hunt the acreage that I own here but now spend as much time as I possibly can in Pike County, IL bowhunting, handgunning, scouting/glassing and just saying "Thank you Lord" for allowing me access to such a beautiful place. My first hunting handgun was a T/C Encore 7mm08 which downed one of the beautiful 9 points hanging from my wall. My primary handgun now is my S&W PC .460. I plan to add a Browning Buck Mark .22 to my collection in the very near future and am always on the look for another specialty thumper.

Hello, my name is Preston (festus) I live in Ohio and am a deer hunting nut. I hunt with mostly a longbow (stick and string) but use a muzzleloader during gun season.
I have hunted with a handgun with no success. I am starting this year going forward to make it my primary weapon. (as soon as I choose the right one)
I am a 20 year retail veteran who makes his living mostly from the laptop.
But my heart is always in the outdoors.

Hi everybody,
Newbie here, like most after bagging over 150 deer with longgun, muzzleloader, shotgun, and bow. I still enjoy bow and blackpowder but now I'm going to jump into handgun hunting. I like the close up action of bow so I thought handgun hunting will be about the same thrill. I will be shooting a wheelgun I just purchased a SBH hunter 44mag with a leupold 4x scope only 50 rounds through it for $600.00. wish me luck and I hope to meet some shooters from Virginia.

Gary,
I live in Ashland Va. I just got home from a sporting clays event in Caroline county. I'm hooked on shooting clays in the off season shoot from NC to NJ . I didn't have much time to hunt last year because of work but I hope to make up for it this year. I have family your way in Stafford, AND Spotsey. Like I said new to handgun hunting hope this gets me pumped about hunting this year. Now I just have to find some places to go with the wheelgun.

Here it is..been shooting handguns since 1973 and started hunting 10 years later. Thank God for hunting as it gets me away from the city where I run the plumbing department for a large NJ public school district. My first hunting handgun was a Colt Python and my latest is a FA`s 475. This is the only site that`s just for handgun hunting and the best you will find on the WWW.
The members are a top notch bunch of shooters and hunters who will always help with any questions you may have. For handgun
hunters....this is the place....all the best and good hunting.

I'm Jim and I live in NW Wyoming. I am disabled because of a broken back. I can still walk with a couple of ski poles. I find it alot easier to carry a hand gun instead of a rifle. Plus I just like handguns.

I started hunting small game with handguns back in the early to mid 70's. I didn't start hunting big game with handguns till the mid 80's. I prefer revolvers but I use SS more because of the terrian and distance I have to shoot. I've taken game from the size of mouse to moose!!!

Hi, I'm Larry and I live in Washington. I bow hunted for several years. I have concentrated on fishing the last two years. I have enjoyed shooting and hand loading for some time now. I will retire soon and am thinking of taking up hand gun hunting.

Howdy, my name is David Luckado but most folks call me Luck or Lucky. I was born in Radford Virginia. I've worked CSAR helos in the Air Force for 8 years. I was a S.E.R.E instructor for 4 years before that. I've been shooting since age 5. I started using a 336 in 35 Rem at age 8. Killed my first Ground hog with a Llama Super Comanchee at 75yds around age 9. Traded a Marlin 1894 for a 7.5' SBH at age 11. Then i kind of got out of hand guns for a while. Got my next at age 23. It was a 3rd gen Colt Walker that shot like a dream. Then my pop give me a 10" 222rem Contender. In the last year i have bought 4 5/8ths BH in 357,41 and 45 as well as a 7.5 and 4 5/8ths SBH a flat top Single six plus 2(count'em) Contenders with 45-70,223,17HMR and 22LR barrels. I use rifle, bow, muzzle loader and handgun to chase deer in Georgia from mid September to mid January every year. And between me and my ex-father-n-law, we usually get 7-8 total.

Hello, I'm Tigger (Dale) Well, where to begin? I was raised on a farm in Western NY. I hunted everything from the time I could hold a gun. Sure wish I had kept an accurate count of the woodchucks I have taken. In 1991 I got my pistol permit, bought a 357 Max revolver, harvested 2 deer that fall and have never picked up a long gun since. I do have a couple of scatter guns in the cabinet, but they just get oiled once a year.
\:\)
I collect and shoot all types of handguns. Above all animals to hunt my passion is the woodchuck (charlie). I found Handgun Hunt not to long after Gary got it up and running. Great site. I have met and shot with a bunch of the guys here and they are all top notch.

hi! i'm mike from pa. i have been handgun hunting for 25 yrs. i havn't killed a lot of deer, but every deer i got only took 1 shot.i missed my first deer in the 2006 season.to me hunting with a handgun is a challenge. it's all about the shot.i picked up my newest handgun. a s&w 460. i'm going to mount a 2x weaver scope on it. i hope i get a chance to try it out this season. good luck this year to all our members.

Name is Glen. Been out of the Military since 76. Lived mostly in Illinois, just moved down to Florida. Never even thought about buying a weapon up in Illinois. Down here I stewed until I decided on a Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrell. Starting to get the feel for it, so I figured it's time to start thinking about hunting. Heard boar hunting in Northern Florida is great.

My name is Dave, I am from SoCa. I am 40 years young and have been hunting for around 18 years. Just shot my first buck this last fall on a guided combo hunt just outside of Hot springs Montana. Man talk about beautiful country! Southern CA, is some tough country to hunt (hintz me screen name) thats why I don't want to wast any more time with the long gun.

I am going to my .44 SBH hunter 7 1/2 with 2x Bushnell. No kills with it yet,but time will tell.
I am on a nitro funny car team (Pisano Racing)but my first passion with out a doubt is hunting.
Well that is it for now. just want to say thanks guys.

welcome Dave, how far south are you?
