Looking for realy good Chronograph. Any suggestions?

My brother has had a PACT Model 1 chronograph for almost 20 years. This last winter it quit working. We sent it to them and 4 weeks later it showed up all refurbished with no bill. Still works as good as it did when he first got it. Here is a link to a new one at Midway USA;

About 4 years ago I bought an RSI chronograph with a few extra goodies. It is totally expandable into a shooting labratory. I have used it some. I need time to put it thru the paces. We have not put the two end to end yet and copaired readings, but we will. Nice thing about having two is we can put one at the muzzle and the other at the target for actuall readings. Thank you, and welcome back. I read on here that you had a few mountains to climb. Just keep pluggin' along. I read some where else, he wouldn't give you more than you can handle. I have never used a Chrono myself. My dad and his buddies had one when i was a kid. I heard that to get true muzzle velocity. You need it about 15 feet out. the CED M2 on your link is the one i was looking at on Midway. That other stuff looks mighty interesting.

I have the Beta Master by Shooting Chrony and it works just as well as the spendier models, unless you want a ton of memory to save your data. For me all a chrony has to do is measure velocity, SD and ES, and this does it all. A printer might be nice but I can do without.

ALL i wanna know is told to me by a $70 F1 CHRONY. they work great n don't break the bank.

about 15' out works best. muzzle blast can/will affect readings much closer.

Thats what i am needin' fellas. Real world stuff. I like gadgets like girls like shoes. Only, i have Champagne tastes and an ice water budget. I need to find a way to swing that RSI ballistics lab. That would be an awsome little thing. I'd be a geek with a gun.

I usually put the chrongraph out as far as the leads will allow. Which is about 15'. That way the escaping gas from the muzzle does not trip the first screen and show a lower velocity. I would think 10" would be more than enough as the escaping muzzle gas slows very rapidly, I would bet after 5' muzzle gas has slowed below bullet speed. But if you always go to end of the leads you are measureing at the same point from the muzzle each time. Not 10' one day, 12 feet the next...ect, just makes it more consistant.
