This kind of BS is more prevalent than you might think. Take a look at Petersen's Hunting last issue. There is an article by Jack Ballard who is a member of OWAA (The Outdoor Writers Assoc. of America). The article is about the "wilderness areas" and a conversation with one of his buddies about access and how restricting access isn't going to affect hunting. You have to know more about the recent history of this organization to be able to read between the lines properly but take a look at one of the "conservation" organizations Ballard promotes in the sidebar. No, it's not SCI or RMEF or FNAWS but The Campaign for America's wilderness - how noble it sounds. Ok now now look at their website
leavitwild.org and scroll down to the bottom of this page and have a look at the Bio for Susan Whitmore. Tell me this doesn't make your blood boil. Of course Ol' Jack thinks there is nothing wrong with this... Apparently neither does PH or they don't pay very close attention to who they promote in their magazine.
Here is another "outdoor writer" and OWAA member that is the darling of these types of groups.
