Larry223, I'm loading 139 gn Honady SST over IMR 4064. It's printing less than 1" @ 100yds with a good rest.
I also reload for 44 Mag. in a Ruger SBHH and a S&W 629 I normally use WIN 296 and have good luck with it,but I've read on this site people were using 2400. What are the PRO / CONS of WIN 296 vs 2400?

Hello, I am elkbelch also known as Shawn. I live in West Central Missouri.
I have been hunting since childhood, 8year old with a pocket full of 28 ga shells and his early 1900s trusty Iver Johnson, by his self on the farm. Way to "politicly incorrect" these days. Since my youth I have aspired to hunt large game in other states as well as my home state of Missouri. I handload and bow hunt. I enjoy the rifle and bow, but have always had a special place in my heart for side arms. I have taken deer with my pistol but would like to harvest an elk. I have taken elk with a muzzle loader, three of them to be precise.
I am glad I have found a place where others share my intrests.

Shawn

Just wanted to say Hi and let you know I'm from New Jersey and started with a hand gun In 1964 reading Skeeter’s Hand Gun stores and got a 357 Mag. then in 1980 moved up to the 44 Mag.
I my first Contender in the 22 hornet in 1985 then 45-410,30 Herit 357 Herit, 35,44 and 223. Wished I had them all now! Plan on watching the adds and getting them again as I have the money or trade for them.
But not being rich sold them as I moved along and now have the Encore in 30-06 15" with the brake, 30-06 Custom left hand stock and had the 24" barrel cut down to 18 1/2" and the inline 50x209 Mag.
We can't use the handgun in New Jersey yet but I hunt Avery season in Pa. with one and then go to other States if I have the time and money.
I have been shooting handguns since I was 8 years old with my Grand Pa and Dad who loved the handguns and had service revolvers S&W 38 Spl's.
I'm going on 65 now and plan to die with one in my hand on a hunt with friends and sitting around the campfire!
I'm also a fisherman when the deer season is over and make all my own rigs. And Plugs for Stripers in the Surf.
I belong to an indoor range Bob's Little Sport Shop and shoot on pistol leagues to be ready for the next hunting season and go to the out door range to shoot 50 to 200yrds. Most of my hunting is on a creak bottom and can only see about 50 yards in the brush.

Maybe you can help me find a left hand Shoulder Holster for my Encore. I use a sling on it now but would like to set it up like my 44 Mag. with a knife and lic .on the belt. My e-mail address is jfs312@yahoo.com :)

Hey Jim NJ-PA, I am lefty as well and have a hard time finding holsters and the like in a left hand version. I use the scoped bandolier holster from Cabelas for my 44. Welcome to the site and I know you will enjoy it very much as I have as well.

Hey there, I'm Ron and I stumbled my way here by way of Gary Reeder's website. I'm getting a .310 GNR barrel made and was reading old articles of his when I saw the web addy.
I'm a regular on the Specialty Pistols Forum as I see many of you are too. I hunt/shoot primarily with revolvers, Contenders and now Encores. I also enjoy all shotgunning sports. I'm Soldier and just passed 25 years of active service. Currently serving in Iraq while the family is riding the storm out in Louisiana.

Best Regards to all,
Ron

Hey Tig!

Thanks for the welcome, although you could have told me about this site!!

Take care- hope all is well up North!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and well-wishes. The last email from my wife said she thought a board came loose from the house, but that she'd check in the morning. The town is without electricity as far as I know. After Rita, it took 9 days for electriciy to get restored- although this storm doesn't sound as bad as Rita was.

Regards to all,
Ron

Hi I am Diego ( Jim Mandigo) I was a closet hunter the real me came out before I married my wife and she said let's go hunting that was 30 years ago. Quail by shotgun or bow. Elk by rifle or bow. Javelina, deer, & etc. any legal means not always successful but enjoyable from desert terrain to 9000' or above in the mountain meadows. Taught hunter education for 20 years for me and wife was 25 years. Trying to get to go hunting is the issue. There seems to be a lot of wisdom in this forum and banterring of fun at each other. Sometimes we forget that this is a forum, a place to be ourselves, a place to find comaraderie, thank you for allowing to join in the conversation.

Hi! My name is Ted. Originally from central Virginia now living in Northern Idaho. Concrete Pump Operator is how I make my living. I have bagged everything here except the Big Horn and Mt goat with archery or rifle. This year I decided to try a handgun. S&W 460 XVR Hunter. Wish me luck.

To TCHunter99 Semper Fi brother. I've been on the site a little while now. I started w/just handgun hunting in 92. The year I was discharged. My father was a dabbler w/handgun hunting & I hunted w/him & my grandfather since I was old enough to tag along & get smacked for making too much noise. I'm from up state New York. The trees are thick & saw no reason to carry a rifle. I've lived in 7 other states & will retire in Iowa when I get all the kids out. I prefer big bore revolvers but had a Conteneder in 7-30 waters. I kinda miss it. I like good leather almost as much as the guns I put in it.

Hello,
My name is Jon. I live and work in whitefish, montana. I have been rifle hunting whitetails for a few years now. I decided to get into handgun hunting, because the majority of my rifle shots have been under 75 yards. I hope to take a buck in a few weeks with my .41 magnum. Hopefully my range sessions will pay off.
