I never cared much for the Pachmayr grip that came on my FA so I made a new set for it out of Curly Maple.

Mark that really is very nice work.

I don't see too many guns with light colored stocks that I think look good with a stainless gun but that's nice. I may have to re-think the stocks on my 10" FA.

Where did you get the wood?

Thanks everybody, I certainly appreciate all the compliments.

Gary, like you I normally prefer a darker grip but I was afraid to too dark on these cause I didnt want hide the curls. I got the wood from my brother who has a small custom woodworking shop, it was a left over from a project he did and was just big enough for these grips, no room for error.......he's got a real sweet looking piece of zebra wood he's bee trying to get me to make a set out of and I probablly will as soon as I decide which gun is going to get them.

That explains it — not to take away from your craftsmanship but good wood is hard to find. Having someone that knows wood goes a long way towards having a nice set of grips.

I'm amazed at how much the curly maple looks like the myrtle I used on my grips. I'm not a wood guy at all and it looks like you got a better fit on yours than I did on mine but hopefully with a little practice I'll get there. again GOOD JOB!

I hadn't noticed it before Rod but you're right, they do look an awfull alot alike.
