Nice to have you here Todd. A Red Hawk is a fine gun, 44 I am guessing? Welcome to the sight. I hunt 95% out of my bow stands. That is how I started handgun hunting 15 years ago! Look forward to seeing pictures. This group loves eye candy!

Hello, my name is Tony. I just stumbled opon this site while searching the web. Looks like a really cool place. I am a third generation handgun hunter. My grandfather hunted with a 6" taurus .357 mag, my dad hunts with a 10.5" ruger super black hawk .44 mag with a 2x bushnell scope, and I hunt with a 8 3/8" S&W .500 mag with a 4x leupold scope. This white tail deer season was my first time shooting at an animal with my gun. Unfortunalty I missed but I did have a great time and learned a lot. I know now that I need to take a lot more time with a handgun to steady my shot. Also I would like to get some sort of shooting stick. I was shooting at a deer about 100 yards off hand, that isnt easy! The rest of our hunting party thinks we are both crazy for hunting with handguns but we both just love it.

Hey guys my name is Dan and my handle is 'Revolverlution'. I was raised in Bozeman, MT and am currently living in Michigan and trying to get back to Montana. I came across this site in looking for info on what handgun to purchase and posted a thread today on the topic, take a read if you get the chance. When I am not working I love to hunt with Traditional Archery gear, trap along my favorite creek and fish. I am new to hunting with a handgun as of this year but am hopelessly hooked at this point. I need another addiction to justify to my wife, like a hole in the head!

Welome to the site Tony! Stoney Point shooting sticks work well for longer shots. You can also make your own with a tent pole repair kit and rubber tubing.

Hi everyone, I'm Billy. I live in the north Georgia mountains, love to hunt and fish, mostly deer and bear. I favor big bore lever guns and revolvers. I'm relatively new to handgun hunting, just the past few years, but look foward to sharing my experiences with all of you. Thanks!

mornin to all
first of all, this is a great site, glad i found it. i've shot handguns since the mid-60's, always carried one but never shot a deer til the late 70's. after i got my 1st deer with my python , i was hooked... i've actually shot 7 deer with handguns
6 with the python and 1 with a 44mag s&w model 29, all 6" guns.
i had more peeps tell me that a handgun especially, a 357, was not good enough to take a deer.... ummmmm , no point arguing with peeps. of coarse these deer were takin between 10 and 50 yds
and only one did i have to put 2 shots into to put him down and they were witha 357 mag. 158 sjhp's. the one i got with the 44
was about 150yds and one shot with it (180 sjhp) put him down,
and he was my biggest deer to date ...9pts 21 1/2" inside and approx. 180 lbs . i still have these handguns and use them
all the time. i do know this, useing a handgun, shot placement is and will always be the most important.
i give thanx to my father for teaching me how to shoot a handgun
and pushing me to just practice with 22's (cheap shoootin) and it keeps ur hand and eye in it, i do it all the time even now and i'm 58, lol it's just so much fun too.
ooops this kinda got long ...sorry

best of luck out there huntin

Thanks for the welcome fellas.......I'm glad to be here....there seems to be a whole lot of experience and knowledge float'n around here!.....I don't have the money or opportunity to hunt abroad like some of you guys and gals but I do love reading about it....So keep it coming!.....maybe someday I'll scrape up enough cash to go on a "real" safari....till then my "backyard safaris" will have to do!.......and don't think for a minute that I don't want more than one barrel for my contender....I looked at a used 7-30 Waters today...super 14 barrel on a mid 80's action.....look'd rough so I passed.....oh well.......

Hey guys my name is Jeremy and my wife and I currently reside in Fresno California. I've been hunting with a handgun since I was 11. I wanted a .22 and mowed lawns until i had enough to buy a Buckmark. Shot countless thousands of rounds through it over the years. Its getting a makeover right now. More on that later. I just started hunting big game with a handgun in the last few years. My dad got more into it and I followed suit. Bought an encore,a couple barrels, and loved it. I don't plan to pick up a rifle anytime soon! I love to hunt more than just about anything, and am constantly scheming on the next trip. I just applied for a job at the Boise Idaho Cabela's so well see how that goes. My wife and I cannot stand CA anymore. We don't want to raise kids here and the taxes and regulations are socialist as ever (Its 40 degrees but I cant use my fireplace cuz its a mandated no burn day). Hopefully i get the job so we can get the hell out of here!!! Im super exited that I found this great group of guys on this site. I've already talked to a few of you on the phone and everyone is top notch! I look forward to the future and hopefully some of us can get together sometime to hunt/shoot/or just BS.
Until next time... Good hunting!!!
