I know there are a few people on the forum that want a 5 shot Ruger in 50. Sure wish I had the money for this GNR... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=138075684

The craftsmen ship is very nice. What type of Ruger frame does he use to make that?

The craftsmen ship is very nice. What type of Ruger frame does he use to make that? any new model blackhawk or super blackhawk frame can be converted to a 5 shot big bore, the 510 is simply a shortened 500 Linebaugh with the thinking being that it's safer to load it with a lighter charge of powder for plinking or deer hunting but then on the top end it's close to 500 Linebaugh. I believe he took it from 1.4" to 1.285" basicly the same as the 480 to the 475.

The .500 Linebaugh uses a 1.4-inch case. The .510 GNR can't touch it when you start loading really heavy bullets (500 grains +).

thats right the long is 1.6", that's what I get for making posts past my bed time. It should have been from 1.4 to 1.285, I'll correct it.

yeah it's the one that made smith correct it's claims on the 500 S&W being the most powerfull handgun cartridge in the world, now if you notice they say the most powerfull cartridge in a production revolver as the 500 Linebaugh Maximum has a higher TKO. I wanted one but Linebaugh quit doing them from what I understand because the 357 Max frames were failing and then Reeder started either making or having his own frames made but now I don't see them in his catalog so I'm guessing more frame failures but I bet it would be a beast in an Encore or I've thought about finding a used BFR long cylinder gun and rechambering it to the 500 Max.

Rod, there's nothing wrong with the Maximum frames. Jack Huntington still builds them on the max frame, but he discourages folks from building maximums a they are so abusive on the shooter and simply aren't necessary. Funny, I just had this conversation with him a couple of weeks ago.

it's a mute point for me now anyhow, that's the last thing my wrist needs and my 475's and the 454's and 500's I'm building will take down anything on the planet. I just wanted one to have it but I won't own anything I can't shoot which is why I had to sell my big bore rifles. I went out about 3 months after my first neck fusion and shot my 458 Lott and paid for it for several days but if I own I want to shoot it.
