Thank you for the information. Im going to mount the scope and shoot it a few times. If the recoil is still to bad I will Talk to Darrel. Thank You so much for your time and help.

Ken,
Glad to help.
I went ahead and gave Holland's call, and told them you may be calling. They have put quite a few brakes on specialty handguns.

If you make it out this way, I will not only let you watch, I will let you get behind several of these rigs and shoot them yourself.
We will start at 400-500 yards and work our way out from there.

Good groups and the heart racing, YUP hooked and landed. COOL! The break will make a big difference and you will have a better FOV and not get the black eye.

What scope at what magnification?
Did you see a full field of view and then pull back (safety margin) before you pulled the trigger?
I think Holland's Radial brake would give you a lot more safety margin.
Congrats on the good group, and no black eyes on my side.

Couple of things will allow you to see a almost or full FOV:
Better brake.
When you go prone, the dirt will not be slick like a bench top, which will also hinder rearward movement.

My 243 Striker is not braked and I have to move my head back about 6" total from the scope to be in the safe zone. The FOV closes in to about half of the tube diameter. At first it's a little confusing and dificult to do. Practice makes perminant.

When I'm hunting charlies I carry the scope on 8 or 10X. When I spot a charlie I will get set up and find the charlie with full field of view, then dial the power up to 20. Draw my head back and squeeze the trigger. Total time from seeing the charlie to firing the gun is less than 10 seconds.

OH WOW!!! I hadn't been back on here in a while. The 325 thing really took off, Welcome to the dark side(HS shooters) BFR, where did you find the 300 WSM? HS hasn't made that many of them!!! I am a little partial to the HS guns( what ya think Ernie)How about a pic or two of it? I have now gone to all Mark 4's (4.5x14) on my HS's as well most have the Holland reticle. The HS brake does not work as well as the Holland bake. My shooting glasses have a few half moons on them as well from being "kissed" by the scope. By the way what part of KY? That is my home state born and raised there. usually make it back there for deer season but this year it just wasn't in the cards.
another thought , you ought to join the group of hangunners next fall in WY, a bunch of us meet in Casper and chase antelope for a week. That 300 would work just fine for those long shots.

Iv been to busy messing with it, to take pictures. Looks just like the one on here same color and all. I bought it at a gun show in Nashville, TN. nmhunter where are you from in KY? Shot the gun 6 times last night 2 groups less than 3/4" at 100yds. No scope marks starting to get the hang of it. Look thru back up squeeze trigger not that hard. yea right. I live in the western part down by Paducah. Use to live in Louisville. When do you guys go to Casper? Going to have to work on funds buying to many guns. This one was not in the plan.

THe trip to Casper is a blast. send me an PM with contact info and I will send you a bunch of lieterature on the hunt.

Ross typically builds his SP's with barrels longer than 18".
But I just can't bring myself to cut the barrel down when it has less than 200 rounds through it.

The Lone Eagle is a fairly light weight SP, and the 06 can have some noticeable recoil. Again, a good muzzle brake will surely help.
Also, you might give yourself a little break if your hand/wrist area is aggravated.

If you are not going it use it (Lone Eagle) that much, then, maybe not.
If you want to use it more, then for sure YES!
