Gregg,

Pearce did an article on the 480 Ruger and 475 Line for the Lyman Handgun loading manual with lots of decent load data. I believe those articles can also be found in Handloader. I will investigate further and let you know.

Thanks fellas for all your help and suggestions!

I had a good visit with Fowler today and brought home some 420 of his cast .475 bullets: 325's, 375's, and 425's...When I get some loaded up I may post a photo.

I watched him in action casting bullets; he has the system down like a pro and he really puts 'em out! He keeps 2 two-hole moulds going just like clockwork.

Looking forward to hearing all about your load development, Gregg! Is this your first .475? If it is, you will like it -- it's a great round, and from what I can see here, you're going to have a great revolver when Rod is done with it!

I wanted to let those of you that wanted or want me to do work on your gun that the deal with Gregg just hit at the right time. I've been on the fence for quite a while now about whether or not my guns were good enough to sell and if I wanted to go ahead and get my FFL as it will definitely effect some of my rights since the ATF can and will show up when they want and I've never made it a secret on here that they are not my favorite people. I made the decision that Greggs gun is going to be the test piece, if it meets or excedes Greggs expectations then I'll go ahead and get my FFL if not then I'll keep doing small jobs for people and wait on the FFL. I do greatly appreciate the support and positive reinforcement you guys have given me. This could possibly be my ticket off SSDI if I can make a go at it or at least supplement it. Thanks again and just to reiterate there was nothing personal in me doing Greggs gun first he just caught me at the right moment. Since you guys seem to enjoy the pics and updates I'll keep posting them as I can.
Thanks again,
Rod

For starters; how about a 375 gr. LFNPB pushed by 13 gr. Unique powder and Winchester Large Pistol Primer..

Feedback??

10gr to start Gregg. Seems everytime I tell you a good Unique load you want to go 10-15% more! Ha ha... Other than that you are right on track, I think Unique works well up to 1000fps beyond that there are better powders, 10gr will have you real close I think.

14.0gr of HS6 if you want a little "more" and still have a very pleasant load...

Actually I am not. That scoop came with the Lee dies and I set it there as a prop. Normally I set up one of my powder measures with my powder scale to the load I want to try and then just throw the charges from the measure, and check every tenth one on the scale.

Yeah I know...but I found a load on Reloaders Nest with 415 gr. LFN and 12 gr. Unique for 1050 fps.

I was just yankin' your chain....Died in the wool dippers swear by those little doo-hickeys.

It did make for a mighty fine compositional aid, however.

The little dippers are pretty handy for bulking big kerneled rifle powder into the tray before I trickle in the last couple of grains. Beyond that they are pretty useless...

I've been doing alot of handwork on the frame so there hasn't been much to update. I've got the cylinder rough fitted and need to trim it to set the headspace and then finish the cylinder window for proper clearance so there isn't any cylinder-frame contact when fired. I did take a break from it long enough to cut the barrel to rough length and cut the crown which is 11 degrees.
