I'm looking into what kind of copyright issues there might be. Don't think I'll run into any problems providing it via e-mail, but posting it online might be a bit tricky.

I'm about half way through the book, will probably finish it tonight or tomorrow. Then I'll start in on transcribing it.

BTW, Al Goerg must have had balls the size of cantelopes. That guy did some crazy things that I would never even dream of attempting. Taking on giant costal black bears in Alaska armed with nothing but a 224 Kay-Chuck and a cap and ball revolver. That's insanity.

Typed out the first chapter today. Would have done more, but the angle I have to turn to look at the book and type absolutely kills my back. It'll probably take me roughly a week (maybe a little less) to get through the whole thing.

I also found someone willing to host the book on their site. We're discussing how to format the pictures and such at the moment.

Doc asked the same question that I was....

It's coming along slowly but surely. I've got 5 chapters finished, around 8 or so left to go. Still need to do the pictures as well.

I have the contact information for Al's sons. I need to contact them in the next day or two. This will decide whether or not the book can be hosted on my friend's website, or if I can only do it through e-mail.

Either way, the book will be available in PDF files of each individual chapter once everything is finished.

I just want people to be able to read the book, as it's an awesome read and tons of fun. It should be in every library. Heck, what spured my interest in handgun hunting was running across a copy of "Hunting for Handgunners" at the local library in the early 90's.

Same here thanks for trying. I tried the same thing a few years back and got the same response from the family.It seems strange that they don't want much put out where people can read it. But it's best to respect the familys wishes.

I recently came across an original Al Goerg Magnum 8 3/8s shoulder hoslster and Model 44 cartridge carrier through an estate sell.

I have been doing quite a bit of online research about Mr. Goerg and found him and his story quite interesting.

Regretfully, I don't currently and probably won't ever own a revolver that will fit this type of holster and I am looking to sell it. I have posted it on eBay just this evening (January 20th) if anyone is interested.

About a month or so before Larry Kelly died I gave him my copy of Hunting for Handgunners to sign. I left it with him and told him I would get it back when I picked up the gun I was dropping off. When I got the book back I was thrilled to find he added all kinds of footnotes! These 2 are in the Al Goerg section.

I just found my tatered copy of his famous book and also, found my explosive bullet setup he made for me, way back when along with the hollow pointer. I corresponded a lot with him back then and his son is a member of Graybeards outdoor forum and posts there regulally. I owned one of his shoulder holster for a 8 & 3/8" 29 also. I recently, hybridized a model 15 with a K22 cylinder reamed to .224 Harvey Kaychuck and k22 barrel to shoot his famous caliber, that I read about sooo long ago. Plan on rereading this book in near future.
