May I suggest that our friend bmailes try cocking the piece with the weak hand while maintaining a strong hand grip.

My coach used to tell me that it leads to better shot to shot consistency.

WVS329.

That is true but when I shot IHMSA with my SBH, I cocked with my right thumb from Creedmore. It was one hand shooting with a rest on the side of the leg.
Now the S&W 29's---NO way. Put the gun down while targets are set, pick it back up and you can miss all 5 of the next shots.
A Bisley grip is almost as bad, never put it down!

Grips are so important too. I stay with the hog leg and Pachmeyer grips make them comfortable without changes in POI's when you pick up the gun.

Oh really

Its ok dude, 430 is just sharing what has worked best for him, not saying it couldnt be done. Kind of like the 7-30 thing for elk. lol

Honestly, there is a lot of wonderfull knowledge to be shared here by all, if we just take it for what its worth and take it for face value. Lets face it, we are all passionate about handgun hunting or we wouldnt be here.

Good for you. I never cared for those hoglegs either, give me a GeeP, SRH or Bisley any day. I prefer the SRH over the RH, but either over the traditional SA.

I am real tired of the explanations. I had a tiff with Taffin that has someone else shoot 20 yards and only counts the best 3 out of 6 shots.
I was booted from Graybeard with 4 posts, no pictures and I was very careful but was told I do not fit in.

Hey, don't feel bad. I received a one week suspension for an accidental double post and the was banished forever from a 1911 site when one of the more esteemed members posted that his 1911 was capable of 6 inch groups @ 15 yards and was the most accurate hand gun he had ever fired. My crack about considering a seeing eye dog and a white cane apparently didn't go over well.

Its simple, Mr. Gary is awesome and he knows our strength is in our diversity. He gives us a lot of free rain and benefit of the doubt.

There is a LOT of knowledge here. On the flip side, dont ask a question if you are not going to be open to spectrum of responses. Flip another coin, people wouldnt post if they didnt care nor wanted to help. Half of the arguments here are because people are passionate about their equipment and what works for them...

All I can say is that I dont envy the moderaters, they do a tuff job very well. It is hard to walk a balance of total domination and playfull banter to keep us kids in line... lol

Mr. Gary has selected them carefully leans on them a lot. Mr. Gregg and Mr. Dan have different personalities and compliment each other well.

So let me get this correct , you went to a shorter barrel and your groups improved?

I think the point was the grip/gun fit him better.

Glad you found something that works for you, now go wear it out.
Wouldn't it be a boring cookie cutter world if one size fit all , and we all liked and used the same things!!!

I found a new scope that might help a few of us old timers. It is in BRAILLE!
