I'm Ron, but friends call me Wayland, I have handgun hunted off and on since I was 28 (I'm 39 in May), mostly with Ruger revolvers for whitetails here in SE Michigan. I recently sent my Super Blackhawk in to Gary Reeder to have him make me a 510 GNR conversion in anticipation of Bear season this coming fall. I have used my Encore in the past (had a 45-70 barrel I really liked), but really like the wheelguns and living in MI we have a rule for handguns below a certain geographical line - straight wall cartridges that have been commercially loaded in a revolver when hunting deer, hence the 45-70 (like the FA BFR). I still have my Encore frame and am currently narrowing down my next choice for new barrel (I'm thinking 6.5x55 with 140gr bullets) and always looking for advice on this choice.
