I have rifle scope on my XP in .223, 14" barrel and no brake. No problem. If your gun is an original 221 with the 10" barrel and plastic stock you may have some muzzle flip. The stock on mine is heavier than a factory stock, which along with the 14" tube helps keep the muzzle down. I would suggest first trying it while keeping your head well back to see how the gun reacts.
