Is that even necessary in the single shot guns or just the revolvers and lever actions?
It's an OAL restriction that shouldn't affect your single shot. There is a good chance you will have room to seat them out even further if you want. It is easy enough to make a chamber length gauge from an empty case and a bullet to check the distance to the lands.
