This is what I was thinking. When I was collage age, (never had time fer collage, to busy shooting and hunting with my handguns) but I would have never dreamed of taking up another sport such as offloading when it was time to hunt!

It was boots on the ground except a couple times we road horseback to base camp, but them horses were rested fer the ride out, and daily hunting and scouting from there was on foot.

Sad that today what I see hunting becoming, wish I had been born 50 years earlier!

My advice would be, fer well under 500 bills a good set of Danners, and an descent pack, then start enjoying the hunt while your young enough you can, then thank me when get older, the memories will be much more rewarding! JMHO
