Not really. The expander is designed for the 500 S&W. Because we are cutting .2" off of the case the internal case taper causes a more severe interference fit of the expander die in the shorter 500 JRH case. Eventually you get enough friction it overcomes the yield strength of the brass and it buckles. You would see a similar issue if you attempted to load some of the really heavy (500gr+) 500 S&W bullets as well.

If you want to use the 500 S&W expander die and/or want to run really heavy bullets you are going to need to ream your brass to thin down the internal taper. Unless you have a lathe at your disposal this is going to be somewhere between tricky and impossible. Lee Martin over at Singleactions.com has a thread where he talks about the necessary specs for the reamer.

Like I said, this should only be a requirement if you want to run really heavy bullets. If you are going to be sticking in the 440 and down range, just get the 50AE expander and be done with it.
