They break when and where they want,don't really have a round count per pin. Mine is the older large diameter pin with the large firing pin as is yours . THE NEW PINS ARE SMALLER, AS IS THE FIRING PIN. I get pins from Midway or Brownells.
Savage won't touch the gun ,said they didn't make it, won't fix it, and don't have parts or people that know how. This was from the people that own Savage now. I patiently tried to explain that it had the Savage name on it but was told" we don't care we didn't make it.
I will not be getting rid of the gun ,I like it to well and it shoots to well, but it has its Quirks. My .308 shoots 130 gr Speer HP's real well and just about any 165 gr bullet with 43 gr of Imr 4895 will do sub inch. Trigger can be touchy to adjust much below 3 # with out slam firing.
