I know there are people on this forum that effectively use a red dot or low magnification for shots over 100 yards, but I would have difficulty. A 2-6X, or 2.5-8X or something in that range would suit you better, IMO. In your price range you should be able to find a quality scope such as Weaver, Burris, Bushnell(Trophy/Elite), Nikon, or Leupold. I'll think you'll appreciate the higher magnification on this platform and caliber combination.
