In a Contender or G-2 I would go with either the 7x30 Waters or the 30-30AI for deer sized game (As long as they are legal for the state you are hunting in).

There is nothing wrong with getting both frames.
If money is a concern, get the 300 BO in the Encore frame, so you can have your 460 as well. A good solid-bottom brake works even on a 460.
