Thats why I travel over 200 miles to see my orthopedic surgeons, I've seen more docs in the past 20 years than I care to count. I have alot of experience in this so my best advice is this, remember they are only human and if your not comfortable with them let them know. You are in charge, not them, they have to answer to you no matter how close to being God they think they are. Don't let them intimidate or bullsh!t you and if your not liking whats happening transfer her to another facility if she is stable enough but don't be afraid to get in their face if your not happy with the way they are handling things. It took me a while but I finally figured out you can fire doctors and get a new one. Our prayers are with you and for the docs to figure it out.
